Know The Room
Know The Room is a private memory assistant for people, relationships, and the small details that make social context easier to recall.
The app helps users keep track of who someone is, how they know them, who they are connected to, and what is worth remembering the next time they meet. Instead of forcing everything into rigid contact fields, Know The Room lets users add plain-English notes like:
“Brian Smith is married to Jenn. They both attended Boston College. Duane worked with Brian at TripAdvisor.”
The system turns those notes into structured people, relationships, and facts that can be searched, reviewed, and expanded over time.
What It Does
- Captures people and relationship details from natural-language notes
- Creates searchable profiles for each person
- Tracks facts, relationships, favorites, photos, and recent profiles
- Supports blank profiles for “I know I should remember this person, but details later”
- Includes bulk name import for quickly seeding a personal network
- Provides a private, mobile-friendly interface for quick recall
- Uses onboarding prompts and empty states to help new users get started quickly
Why I Built It
You bump into somebody you haven't seen for a long time. You know you know them, but you can barely remember where, much less any details. You're supposed to ask about them, their life, their kids. Only, you don't remember any of it with enough confidence to not feel like you're about to make a huge mistake the minute you open your mouth.
This app is intended to solve, or at least help with, that. Not every person you've ever met goes into your Facebook or LinkedIn or Contacts app. That doesn't mean you won't be called upon to remember their name.
