Shakespeare Geek

The Original Shakespeare Blog, dedicated to proving that Shakespeare makes life better.

And I'm marching on to the beat I drum
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apologies, this is me

Twenty years ago when the web was still pretty new, I decided that I wanted a place to talk about Shakespeare. Sure I'm a born and bred computer geek who got a computer degree and works a computer job. But I love Shakespeare, too, despite not having any formal education in the subject. Nor am I an actor. But who cares? Shakespeare's for everybody.

So I started posting. Just brain dumping. Stuff I learned. Movies that came out. Shakespeare references in tv commercials and video games. And a funny thing happened - I found myself. I relaxed into it. I found confidence. I didn't feel like an impostor.

I came up with a saying over those years - Shakespeare makes life better. That's not a website slogan, I believe that. Catch me in person and I'll talk your ear off about why. I'm very happy to report that everybody I know has a little more Shakespeare in their life because of me. Over the years many people, from many corners of my life, have said, "I saw a Shakespeare thing and thought of you." I'm glad I could help.

The site's not updated nearly as much any more as it was when I was a younger man. Over 20 years and thousands of posts, I feel like there's not much I haven't already covered. But still, it's home base. When the Hamnet movie came out, of course we posted there. I don't think I'll ever give it up. Why would I?
